Once again the team of Dil Chahta Hai, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar is back with director Abhishek Kpoor. This time they have come with a new story that is Rock On. This film is about friends and friendship. It really shows the real meaning of true friendship. Rock On is about four friends in their twenties for who music is a passion they dedicatedly pursue. 

Music binds them; rehearsals make sure they are always together. They have a band called 'Magik'. As a band, Adi (Farhan), Rob (Luke Kenny), KD (Purab Kohli) and Joe (Arjun) were a treat. They brought the house down whenever they performed. But somewhere down the line, something went wrong and each goes their separate ways. For 10 years, they do not meet each other. What was it that blew their friendship away, is rest of the story? On the acting front, Farhan Akhtar makes his debut as an actor and he displays rare maturity for a first-timer. 

Known as an accomplished director all along, Farhan will now be acknowledged as a mature actor as well. Arjun delivers his lines really well especially in arguments with his wife. Superb is the word for him in this film! Purab Kohli is tremendous. Shahana Goswami comes in as a revelation of talent. For her debut she does extremely well. Prachi Desai has vowed viewers as the bahu on television; she takes her performance a step further making her Bollywood debut with confidence. 

She does a very decent job as the soft spoken wife of Farhan. She speaks a lot through her smile. In a nutshell, Rock on is an amazing film with emotional quotient, the skilful performances and the superb execution of the subject. This film is a lesson in filmmaking on how to scout for the right actors for the part; of how to blend lyrics with the mood and how to add music to the flavour. This is a film one just can't afford to miss.
